According to ConsumerAffairs.com and many Toyota Prius owners, many problems are starting to arise with the car as the miles start to increase. However, it seems that the Prius stalls after any type of lost traction to the front wheels such as icy road conditions. I guess there's a problem with the traction control system onboard. I'm just wondering why nobody noticed this sooner. Just another reason why I wouldn't buy a hybrid just yet.
it's a conspiracy. the oil barons want to shake the publics faith in alternative fuel types so they made the car companies build in the numerous engineering faults. what kind of bonehead puts a car on the road that can't be towed without burning out the wiring? Or a gas bladder instead of a gas tank so that if you have low fuel and the weather drops below a certain degree it freezes and cracks? these are idiotic things that should have been noticed but mysteriously went by the quality control people. whenever even the slightest flaw in design is noticed on a gas powered car they immediately issue a recall and fix the problem. not so with the hybrids. i've seen a truck recall because the tailgate wires could possibly rust. they try to think of everything when a car comes of the assembly line, so why weren't these obvious flaws addressed? oil. that's why.

While this is probably true, I have a different take on the situation. I think the government and governing bodies are trying to slowly convert to hybrids and alternate fuel sources. That's why they offer incentives for lower federal taxes. While the oil companies probably have something to do with this, I don't think they would go to this extreme yet. Like I said in my other post, I think there will always be a demand for oil. I think the overall goal is not to eliminate oil altogether but rather reduce our consumption. Also, a lot of companies spread out what they manufacture so if one product fails they always have backups so they don't totally go bankrupt or out of business. For instance, Honda isn't limited to cars. They also make bikes, lawn care equipment, commercial jets, and they're even building walking robots. And it's not just them look at Mitsubishi and other similar manufactures. I think the oil companies will eventually evolve to the demand. While oil's big today, hydrogen or some other fuel will probably be big tomorrow.
As far as this hybrid...I don't know what happened here. Oil companies could have some secretive involvement or maybe just bad engineering and testing. One things for sure though. I'll be one of those guys that will be demanding gasoline until the day I die. Amen.
if you keep up with your reading about the new cars and trucks of today and i dont keep up with my reading but i should but i did read the gmc and chevy now have there full size trucks and suv's NON hybrids getting 20mpg's or higher. now with that being said jo shmo and his wife mrs. shmo go out to purchase a new truck there gonna look at chevy and say wow thats awesome it gets 20 mpg's then there gonna see the yukon hybrid and think if they buy that there gonna get 30 40 mpg's where as thats not the case there not gonna save anymore then they would buying just a straight gas truck. all the truck hybrids do is turn off when the truck stops then as soon as you put your foot on the gas it starts again and goes. you might do a little better but i dont think its worth it cause its just more where and tear on your car i mean everytime i stop my truck shuts off then when i go it starts again thats a lot of wear and tear. think if your in bumber to bumber traffic for 9 hours on a trip moving 2 feet every 5 min with your truck consitinly turning on and off on and off its not like the toyota hybrid where it stays off till like 30mph then turns on the trucks and suvs as soon as you put your foot on the gas pedel that motor starts again. granted you get a tax break if you buy a hybrid but i still dont think its worth it maybe im wrong but i dont know just the way i think of it. im sure someone will prove me wrong though lol.
